This is encouraging - we all can feed off this Saudi endeavour and make our
realities similarly!
Most Arab countries produce nothing more than fossils.
This can be the beginning of a new pathway to renewal energy and other
productions in NAME. Go for it; its truly encouraging!
we need to billd bomb in Arab country, not from america or Russia. so we will continue the ware on the non believer.
I hope you are joking?
Americans have no problems with Arabs or Muslims. The world only has issues with extremists, you sound like one of them.
get lost, primitive.
"Non-believers"? People other than Muslims are believers just not in the same thing. Everyone doesn't agree with your Prophet Mohammed. And furthermore, they don't have to agree. What makes you so insecure that you can't allow any disagreement with yourselves? An intelligent person understands that people across the world have very differing ideas in everything and that is okay. "Conquering" nations to force them to embrace your idea of religion is totally foolishness After all, Muslims stole their religion from the Jews and Christians and decided that those two groups had perverted the original message. Well, we are very happy with our original message that was given to us by God himself through the prophets and through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. You want to change the original version then go ahead just don't think everyone needs to agree with your changes. Judaism was around for about 4,000 to 6,000 years before your prophet came along. It certainly doesn't need the new kid on the block to teach them/us about our religion. The New Testament of Christians tell us that, if even an angel from heaven comes with a NEW message we are not to believe it. So you worship God in your way and we will worship Him in our way. At the end of time God can decide who is right.
Excuse me, "stole" your religion? While I certainly have no issues with other people sticking with their beliefs, I have an issue with you saying we stole your religion. We didn't steal anything. Like you, we were sent a message from God through one of his prophets, where yours came from Jesus and Judaism came from Moses, we got ours from Mohammed. no 'stealing' ever happened, especially since we all believe in the same God. Our book also references your prophets as well. Is it so crazy to think that God sent down three different messages to spread belief in Him around the world? If people won't accept one, maybe they'll accept another. Is it so hard to think that members of all three religions will wind up in heaven together? Or even that all good people, no matter what their religion may be, will all be in heaven together?
also '"Conquering" nations to force them to embrace your idea of religion is totally foolishness'. And the crusades were fine? Mass murders against anyone who disagreed with your religion? You might want to look at your own history before criticising someone elses. We are not our ancestors, and you are not your ancestors.
This is something that greatly baffles me. We are three different people who all believe in the same God, but have our own ways of worshipping him. Shouldnt we be, you know, united? Instead of constantly warring with each other, either by words or by weapons? It's als funny, because we're all taught not to kill and we're also taught to accept others, and we can't even accept the people who are closest to us and we fight them? it's rediculous.
Again, I have no issue with you or your beliefs, but i will call you out when you insult my religion and make erroneous claims. The past is the past, we can't change it, but we can change how we will act in the future, so why don't we look forward together instead of looking back and bickering with each other.

Dear Japper:
I have no problem with living in unity and sharing the good
points of the religion of others. I just totally disagree with the likes
of Moha to whose comments I replied. His ideas of "kill all the
non-believers" is anathema to me. It is something right out of the times of
the Crusades - a horrible manifestation of the kind of beliefs good old Moha
seems to support. I probably should have been more circumspect with my
comments rather than let his comments annoy me so. I apologize for upsetting
you.
Middle east countries can take full advantage of economic slowdown in EU & US and become global power in business in technology. Good amount of investment is also required in quality education and training of their own population.
Saudi and all Arab countries develop an Industry of Solar Generation like they must Manufacture Solar Cells in their own countries instead of Importing from Europe or Western Countries as this will Create Jobs in Saudi Arabia and all Arab and Gulf countries!
Crocodile tears ! Qatar and Saudi Arabia two of the world's biggest polluters per capita trying to fight green house gases .hahaha what sick joke
I don't think so, I think that Both the Qatari and Saudis realize that their natural resources are either going to eventually run out (sooner rather than later) or the world is gonna start using alternate energy. They both want want to make sure that they're still relevant in that new world and I think that this may be their attempt at keep their relevance.
I think this great news that Saudi is going down this road. They have the stretches of empty desert to place their solar power plants for their cities. Only thing that will limit Saudi solar energy production is in the temperature it reaches in the summer which drive down the efficiency of the solar panels.
This really is a case of environmentalism meeting good business. It's a match made in heaven. If the Arabs pull this one off they might actually secure their future for decades to come.
It depends on the type of "solar" power being used. The article pictures suggest panels, but they could be solar thermal plants like the ones all over Spain and in the southwest US.
Yes, much of the funds will also go on research and development, so seems positive all round and quite a surprising move by the KSA.
"Only thing that will limit Saudi solar energy production is in the temperature it reaches in the summer which drive down the efficiency of the solar panels." The other limitation for the project is the supply of photovoltaic material used in making solar panels. China has control of a major portion of that market.
Solar could be the cheapest and least harmful source of energy. We need it. The future belongs to solar. Sky is the limit.
What if they go all solar and then Iran sends missiles to destroy their solar panels?
Iran will send missile to Israhell or USA why to Saudi. Check your mental situation.
King Abdullah is reported to have "frequently exhorted the U.S. to attack Iran to put an end to its nuclear weapons program."
"Cut off the head of the snake," the Saudi ambassador to Washington, Adel al-Jubeir, quotes the king as saying during a meeting
Wikileaks was great at proving the rift between Iran and the KSA
King Abdulla fooled United States of Terrorism. Always remember beggars can
not be choosers.
Wikileaks is Zionist propganda and nothing else. Days of
all these nonsense are gone.
Just watch activities of your bankrupt govt in
next five years.
both as bad as each other

you. Sunni 72 Shia 72
Wake up you are in dream world just think how long your govt can print dollars and what will happen after that. Try to give better future to your kids rather than doing false propaganda.
Because Iranian do not like Arab, they stole Persia. Many Sunni Arab are treated badly there, as are other faiths.
Everybody 'stole' their nation/country form someone else. The Arabs stole their lands from other tribes and peoples. That's life. Who every wins the war gets the territory. Apparently the only nation in the world who is not allowed to take land in war is Israel. When Israel is attacked, they have the right to fight back and if they win the war ( and they always do) they get to keep any land they have taken. If my history is correct Arabs store land from many, many countries and kept it - well except for Spain - they tried to keep it but got kicked out. They then moved to Africa and have been much more successful in taking land that didn't belong to them. Some people seem to have the idea their nation is allowed to take (steal) land from others but no one else is allowed to steal. Americans/Canadians store their land from the native Indians and Eskimos. Australia store its land from the Aboriginals (Maori). The Vikings stole much land because they were great at winning wars. The Normans conquered Great Britain. So ande, don't wine that the Iranians stole Persia - they obviously won it by being better warriors.
Iran would be wasting a lot of missiles, an oil refinery or a power plant would be a better and easier target than the thousands of scattered solar panel.
It is simply good decision. World will benefit from this green move, irrespective of motivation behind this move.
"Oil rich Gulf state seeks $109bn investment for solar energy, a move some say could revolutionise green power." That is quite commendable of the Saudis, but I wonder why, with all their wealth they would seek "investors" for this seemingly small project. They can't handle a measly $109 billion investment in solar energy? Preposterous!
Yes, it is purely business not for the sake of humanity to save it from black gold waste. I always support alternative energy initiatives. Hope it is good for the region and for Saudi Brothers.
Pause before the storm, as thorium concentrations are found in Saudi Sands and Chinese Thorium reactors evolve, marking the evening on the American Dollar and its oil involvements in this world, Changing the Global Energy Maps forever, and marking humanities real entry date into the 'Nuclear Age".
please do not falsify the data
the best approach is honest balanced
truth, and what happens at night, ?
and only 25 per cent needed to supply
the world with its current need for energy,

inhabitant of the wonderful kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Power cells. During the day, solar energy is converted into electricity, supplied to a power plant where some of the energy is stored and some is transported out to the country. During the night, the stored energy would be sent to the country. Basically think of giant rechargeable batteries that are strong enough to power a country at night. Of course there'd be different materials used in power cells than in batteries.
Also the majority of Saudi Arabia is untouched sand. put solar panels on half of that sand and you've got a hell of a lot of power coming in from the sun. They may in fact be able to power the world (literally) if given the chance to.
so Allah gave them oil and sun ..all He has to do is give them fairness and
justice and paradise is on earth in Saudi.
